What is up with puffy winter jackets?

Post by Hannah_Banana222 on Sat Jan 29, 2011 6:10 pm

You know the ones I'm talking about. The waterproof jackets that make you look like a giant marshmallow.

Anyway, they always have warm soft lining, but just on the torso part. The sleeves are the same material inside as outside. Why is that?

It's not like you'll even get to enjoy the comfy part. You're wearing a shirt—or I'd hope you are. If anything, your arms are the only part that can feel the inside.

If anyone can offer an explanation for this, even something stupid that you just made up on the spot, I'd love to hear it. This has been boggling me for months. >.<

I don't know. My question is unless you live somewhere where its normal for temperatures to be in the negatives for weeks at a time, why the heck would you want one? I just saw a girl walk out of the classroom that I'm going into next with a bright pink one, she looks like a freakin balloon.

I couldn't answer that question for ya, but I agree with Chorus, I live in a place where it's below 30 degrees without wind chill from November until March, like the high tonight is -6 and the wind chill tonight is supposed to make it like -30 something. So yes I do own one of those coats, but I can't answer that question for you. My coat doesn't have the warm lining in it anywhere though.

Yeah I don't get it either. During winter I rock the leather trench coat. Only way to travel
